HOW BEAM CAN HELP YOU
BEAM can help you and your family though emergencies that can result from missing work due to an illness, needed car repairs preventing you from getting to work, a temporary loss of your job or a loss of income for someone in your household.
BEAM can assist if you are a resident at the beaches within the following zip codes:
32082, 32224, 32233, 32250, 32266 and 32227
Encompassing Ponte Vedra Beach, Jacksonville Beach, Neptune Beach, Atlantic Beach, and Mayport
BEAM offers financial assistance for rent and utilities for qualified residents of the above zip codes. This service is available every 18 months, and an appointment is required. Please call 211 to be referred for financial aid. (904-632-0600). To receive any financial service from BEAM, clients must bring proof of income and proof of emergency along with a current lease with their name as an occupant, picture ID for the person requesting assistance, and social security cards for everyone in their household.
Energy Bills and Utilities Assistance
Beaches Energy Service (BES) partners with BEAM so that BEAM can administer assistance to qualified BES customers who need help with their BES bill. BEAM administers all the funds available through BES’s “CARE” program. BEAM also helps with City of Atlantic Beach Public Works and Utilities bills. No appointment is necessary for this service. This service is available Monday-Thursday from 10am-1pm and Friday from 10am-12pm.
BEAM’s food pantry serves residents of the above zip codes. Families are asked to schedule appointments for food pick-up one day in advance and can come once every 30 days if they need food. We also have a full-time registered dietician that clients can talk to and shop with. Please call (904) 241-2326 to schedule an appointment. To receive food service from BEAM, clients must bring a current lease with their name as an occupant, a piece of mail with their name and current address (preferably a bill), picture ID for the person requesting assistance, and social security cards for everyone in their household.
Applying for SNAP and Medicaid
BEAM is a partner with the Department of Children and Families to help families apply for SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or “food stamps”) and Medicaid. No appointment is necessary for this service. This service is available Monday-Friday from 9am-1pm.
Single Parent Program
BEAM’s Single Parent Program is designed to interrupt the cycle of poverty for local single mothers and their children. Personalized case management and other services such as goal setting workshops, parenting workshops, and financial education are available for up to 3 years to enable clients in our beach communities to reach their self-sufficiency goals. Path to Wellness Program
BEAM’s Path to Wellness Program is run by a full time registered dietician who works with clients one-on-one to guide them on how they can use food as preventative medicine. Clients are able to shop with the dietician in the food pantry every two weeks and they are also able to attend hands-on classes on various health –related topics. BACK TO SCHOOL WITH BEAM
Back to School with BEAM helps Beaches families get their children ready for school by providing clothing, new backpacks, school supplies, shoes, underwear and socks to children in our service area.
Thanksgiving dinner baskets are donated to BEAM and provided to families to prepare a bountiful Thanksgiving dinner.
