Finegan Welcomes Mobile Food Pantry

Finegan Welcomes Mobile Food Pantry

BEAM implemented its 4th mobile food pantry this August at Finegan Elementary School, taking place on the third Thursday of each month. “Finegan Pantry” has already been extremely impactful, serving over 270 families and distributing 13,767 pounds of food to date, which is equivalent to approximately 11,500 meals.

Finegan Pantry is located in Jacksonville’s Mayport area, and has been developed to combat food insecurity in an area that is a USDA-certified food desert. The Finegan mobile food pantry is run by BEAM Food Bank Manager Meagan Anderson and Finegan PTA Liaison Barbara Lynn , and serves a number of military families.

“We are proud to partner with BEAM and its food bank. Our Finegan families and our community deserve the healthiest food and we are thankful that BEAM supplies it every month. This month we had 19 volunteers and distributed 5,901 pounds of food! We continue to grow! Thank you, BEAM!” – Lindsey Connor, Principal of Joseph A. Finegan Elementary

The Beaches Community Fund, an initiative of the Community Foundation for Northeast Florida, provided funding for the planning and implementation of Finegan Pantry, while Beaches Rotaract has chosen BEAM as the beneficiary of its annual fundraiser “A Night at the Alhambra” taking place on Thursday, December 12. All net proceeds from their event will go to support the Finegan Pantry initiative. For more information and ticket registration for their event, please visit
