Jack Miller (second from right) raised over $2,000 for BEAM, and collected over 3,000 canned goods with the help of his friends and neighbors in the Jacksonville Golf And Country Club neighborhood during his Food Drive. Jack is 11 years old, and is already making a huge impact on the Beaches Community!

BEAM’s Updates to the COVID-19 Pandemic as of 5/28/2020:

Rent and Utility Needs Continue to Escalate

We envision a future in which no beaches resident goes hungry or is haunted by the fear of eviction. This is sadly a reality for many of our neighbors as a result of COVID-19 disruptions.

We continue to see extraordinary demand for our emergency financial assistance program, which helps beaches area families cover the cost of their rent and utility bills during difficult times.

Here is the breakdown over the last few months:

  • May (as of May 22) – 227 households

  • April – 193 households

  • March – 69 households

To date, we have raised more than $67,000 through our Keep Their Homes Campaign to help hundreds of beaches residents stay in their homes during these distressing times.

Highlights from last week include:

  • Distributing more than 17,000 pounds of food to BEAM pantries and local partners in need

  • Providing nearly 3,500 pounds to the Jacksonville USO in the form of dry goods, milk, meat and pet food for active military families

  • Providing meals and groceries to Jacksonville Beach’s two subsidized senior living facilities, Pablo Hamlet and Pablo Towers

  • Conducting weekly check-in calls to 76 seniors to ensure safety and comfort while they continue to ‘Shelter in Place’ alone

  • Delivering pre-packaged groceries to seniors in need of food

  • Supplying food to our partners at the Mission House, Hubbard House, St Johns the Baptist Catholic Church, Chabad at the Beach and Beaches Community Kitchen

  • Harvesting produce from BEAM’s Grace Garden to supplement the BEAM food pantries

How You Can Help:

  • Help us spread the word about our  Keep Their Homes Campaign as we work to ensure no beaches resident becomes homeless due to financial hardship because of COVID-19.

  • We have also recently seen individuals commit to monthly recurring gifts or sending in part or all of their stimulus check. Click here to visit our donation page.

  • Shop and/or drop off donated items to BEAM Thrift at our 7North location at 318 7th Ave N, Jacksonville Beach, 32250. For hours, visit: https://www.jaxbeam.org/beamthrift

As you know, these circumstances change frequently and we continue to make adjustments to serve our beaches area community.

Please visit our website at www.jaxbeam.org and Facebook page for regular updates.  Thank you for your support to provide individuals and families hope and help during this trying time.
