BEAM’s Updates to the COVID-19 Pandemic as of 5/21/2020:

Rent and Utility Needs Climb Over Last Month:

We continue to provide rent and utility assistance at historic levels, and see no sign of it slowing down. Last month we assisted 193 families, and we have already surpassed that with 10 days left in the month of May.

Below is just one story of the more than 200 families we have kept in their homes this month.

Diane works for Chartwell’s and her husband Raymond is a self-employed plumber. Both have felt the financial implications of COVID-19; especially Diane who works within the Duval County Public Schools system. Since Spring Break, she has been without work and there is still no word on when students will be allowed back at school.

Diane learned of us through her property manager and was in tears when she found out BEAM could provide financial relief for her overdue rent bill. She said, “I have no words to describe how happy we are to get a little help. Please keep doing what you do. You are saving people.”

Not only was this safety net critical for her and her husband, but also for their three children.

To date, we have raised more than $60,000 through our Keep Their Homes Campaign to help hundreds of beaches residents stay in their homes during these distressing times.

Highlights from last week include:

  • Distributing more than 22,000 pounds of food to BEAM pantries and local partners in need

  • Providing 2,500 pounds to ‘Finegan Pantry’, a mobile food distribution at Finegan Elementary School to provide groceries for military families and community members

  • Restoring water to an elderly client with plumbing issues

  • Providing pre-packaged meals to senior subsidized living facility Pablo Towers and Beaches Community Kitchen in partnership with Feeding Northeast Florida

  • Conducting weekly check-in calls to 75 seniors to ensure safety and comfort while they continue to ‘Shelter in Place’ alone

  • Supplying food to our partners at the Mission House, Hubbard House, St Johns the Baptist Catholic Church and Chabad at the Beach

  • Harvesting produce from BEAM’s Grace Garden

How You Can Help:

  • Help us spread the word about our new Keep Their Homes Campaign as we work to ensure no beaches resident becomes homeless due to financial hardship because of COVID-19.

  • We have also recently seen individuals commit to monthly recurring gifts or sending in part or all of their stimulus check. Click here to visit our donation page.

  • Shop and/or drop off donated items to BEAM Thrift at our 7North location at 318 7th Ave N, Jacksonville Beach, 32250. For hours, visit:

As you know, these circumstances change frequently and we continue to make adjustments to serve our beaches area community. Please visit our website at and Facebook page for regular updates.

Thank you for your support to provide individuals and families hope and help during this trying time.
