COVID-19 Update: 3/16/2020

BEAM’s Updates to COVID-19 as of 3/16/2020:

  • Our BEAM Food Pantry operations have transitioned from client-choice shopping to pre-packaged groceries at both our Jacksonville Beach and Mayport locations

  • Our Mobile Food Pantry operations have also switched to distributing pre-packaged bags to clients (i.e. Finegan Elementary School and developing plans with Mayport Elementary School)

  • We are continuing to pick up from beaches area grocery stores; however, we have seen a drastic decrease in the amount of food being donated as grocery stores are meeting the demands of their customers

  • We are collaborating with local partners on their increased needs (i.e. DCPS, Beaches Council on Aging, Beaches Community Kitchen, Pablo Hamlet, and Pablo Towers)

  • We are checking in with BEAM senior clients and arranging surrogate grocery shoppers and/or home delivery

  • We are developing contingency plans in case we cannot conduct face-to-face meetings with clients who are in need of emergency financial assistance

  • We are monitoring the advice of the Florida Department of Health and local authorities and will make adjustments to our thrift store operations as appropriate

As you know, these are constantly changing circumstances and we will continue to make adjustments. Please check back on our website and/or Facebook page for regular updates.

We are asking the community to continue their financial support of BEAM so that we are able to respond to the food and financial assistance needs of those impacted. We anticipate these will increase in the weeks ahead.

Thank you for all you do to assure that BEAM continues to be a beacon of help and hope for our most vulnerable neighbors.
