01 May BEAM Supports the Increasing Number of Seniors who Require Assistance
Recent data from the US Census Bureau shows that there is an increasing number of older individuals living below the poverty line. As a result, Shantella Gamble, Beam Senior Services Case Manager, is continually exploring innovative ways to support seniors in the Beaches community who are in need.
Earlier this year, Karen Shack expressed her concern about her mobility to us. She was relying on a cane but was worried about falling. This month, we were able to provide Mrs. Shack with a power scooter through the generosity of one of our supporters who donated it to us. The only issue was a battery replacement, which we promptly took care of. Our goal is to ensure that senior citizens in the Beaches area can live comfortably, independently, and safely.
